Sheets to client decks

SlideSync Studio guide#

SlideSync copies your branded Google Slides template, fills every {{placeholder}} from a range in your sheet, colors growth and declines, and can add an AI summary, a voiceover script in speaker notes, chart images and a PDF copy.

Quick start#

  1. Put your KPIs in a sheet (see Data layouts below) and select the range.
  2. Click Extensions → SlideSync Studio → Open SlideSync, then Use selection.
  3. Click Select template and pick your master Slides deck.
  4. Click Check template to see which tags have no value.
  5. Click Run report now.

Making a template#

Write placeholders in double curly braces anywhere in text boxes or tables: {{client}}, {{sessions}}, {{mom_growth}}. Tag names are matched without spaces and case, so {{ Total Revenue }} matches a row named total_revenue.

Special tags:

Tag Filled with
{{executive_summary}} 3–5 AI-written bullets from your numbers (if AI summary is on)
{{period}} The report month, e.g. October 2026
{{chart:Revenue by month}} A text box containing only this is replaced by the sheet chart with that title

Data layouts#

Tag | value | previous (one deck)

sessions 48,210 41,030
mom_growth 0.175

Header row of tags, one deck per row — one deck per client:

client sessions mom_growth
Acme 48,210 17.5%
Globex 12,400 -4.0%

Trend colors#

Tags whose name contains growth, change, delta, trend, mom, yoy, wow or vs are colored automatically: green when positive, red when negative. Fractions like 0.175 under a trend tag are written as +17.5%.

AI summary and voiceover script#

Tick AI executive summary to fill {{executive_summary}} and draft a delivery email. Tick Voiceover script in speaker notes to add a short script and talking points to every slide's notes. Choose a tone: client-friendly, formal or voiceover. Uses 2 credits per deck.

The AI is instructed to use only the numbers you give it. The numbers on the slides always come straight from your sheet.

Review AI-written summaries before sending to clients.

Charts#

Tick Insert charts and add text boxes containing {{chart:Chart title}}, using the exact title of a chart in your spreadsheet. With Match chart colors to the template theme, charts are rendered in your deck's accent colors (your sheet's charts aren't changed). The first time, Google asks for Slides permission; this is only needed for charts.

Output#

Each run creates:

  • A new deck named with your pattern, e.g. Acme report - October 2026, in the folder you picked (or My Drive)
  • A PDF copy, if Save a PDF copy is on
  • A row on the Report Decks tab with chips to both files and the drafted email

Your first three decks are free; after that you need a plan.

Scheduling#

Under Schedule, choose monthly (day of month) or weekly (weekday) and an hour, then Save schedule. Every scheduled run rebuilds each client's deck from the current numbers. The schedule runs under your account and is stored with it, so other editors can't change what it does.

Permissions#

Permission Why
This spreadsheet Read KPIs, write the deck log
Files you pick or create Copy the template, save decks and PDFs
Presentations (only for charts) Insert chart images
Run on a schedule Scheduled reports
Your email Identify your account and plan

Troubleshooting#

  • A tag stayed as {{tag}}: run Check template; the tag name probably differs from your sheet.
  • Range error: use a range like Sheet1!A1:C12.
  • Chart not inserted: the text box must contain only {{chart:Title}}, and the title must match exactly.

More fixes in Troubleshooting.
